Train Track

From 2011 onwards, recently, Singapore will not have train tracks coming through from Malaysia anymore. That's what my Mother told me.

So just the other day, as i was walking home from a shopping centre about 5 LRT stops from my house maybe 1+km away i walked by a train track as that's in my neighbourhood. You see, this train track has been in my life for the last 12 years or so of my life since i moved to this area. It crosses over a road so before this traack closed, vehicles have to pass by and sometimes wait for the train to finish crossing for them to continue driving to their destination. Everytime you cross over the train track, there is a small bump caused by the track itself so after a while it becomes common that everytime you pass through that road with the train track there, you expect the hump when your vehicle crosses over it.

Now however, the train is dismantled/taken out and on either side of the road where the track continues on, it is on the process of being dismantled. I am quite sad to see it go though. I know it's quite a minor issue but it was still a small part of my life. and will quite miss that train track's bump.

It was just the other day that i discussed this matter with my sister, that our descendants will not ever see the old, traditional trains passing through Singapore anymore.

"It's just trains, what's the big deal? Children, Children! There used to be trains in Singapore, ooooooh!!"she replied sarcastically.

Going Along the track
this is the track upfront where it is not being dismantled yet

This shot is where, obviously, part of the track is taken out, no construction workers were around at that time, lunch maybe, and i took the photos. FYI, the area was not being cordoned off so i did not sneak in or something okay...

See those black rocks towards the right side of the picture? That's part of road that i think was also taken off, i guess because the tracks are attached to the roads so they're taken out along with the tracks. Of course cement were used to replace and smoothen back the road again.

More rocks...

There were cables or wires apparently, to connect the traffic light and stuff to alert drivers and to stop drivers about the oncoming train. i walked carefully around that. i think nothing would even happen to me were i to step on it but it IS better to be safe than sorry.
