Received Results a week ago

The other day in Phu Lam College, i was hanging out with my Vietnamese buddies when there was some commotion. Then i heard. Results are out. Immediately, i stood and joined in the commotion cause a lot of the students couldn't get any reception and were being very anxious. I looked at my phone and was wondering why i couldn't get any text when i realised that i was actually using the Vietnam prepaid card. Mobifone, and immediately started changing back to my Singapore SIM card.

My 2 buddies were curious at why i was staring at phone until i received the message. The icon appeared at the top right of the screen and i touched on it for the message to expand. The whole time, i was like OMG yeeeesssss!

Then i didn't even take a look at the grades, immediately, i zoomed in on the GPA. Cumulative GPA for current Semester is 3.929. I jumped from my seat to my buddies' shock and confusion and shrieked out. It felt so good :)

Anyways, it said that my overall GPA was 3.9, yeah!

I had to explain later on to my 2 buddies about the system of grading, it took a while but who the hell cares when the grades are gob smackingly fantastic!

So we had to do some brainstorming for the project and were to use post it notes for it. Within 2 hours, people were starting to get bored and drew on those papers and these are the results:

There were also those who played with the masking tape... The above here drew a fake talisman and played a chinese version of the jumping corpse.

Bank

My friends and i went to exchange our money to Doong so we went to this Donga Bank and i found something very funny
Cartoon Network being played in what is supposed to be a professional bank.

Mosquito Bites

The whole team had to go out to Ben Tre for 2 nights so we stayed in a hotel called Dai An Hotel. After we left the place, we started for our dormitory stay. My friend noticed that she had 20 mosquito bites on left leg and 28 on right leg. It's horrible! Just now, there was a lesson to make a prototype for the project that we were working on and her ankle area was bleeding cause she scratched too much.
This isn't too clear but you can still see the many bites, isn't it scary? I wonder where she got the bites from, the dorm or the hotel...

I'm guessing it's the dorms cause when we left Dai An hotel and one the first day of dormitory stay, our legs were just fine. It's on the 2nd (which is the last day) that our legs started getting itchy. See? This is what happens when you do not bring insect repellant to a place you're unfamiliar with.

Hello Vietnam

On our history and cultural lesson(which were on different days), we watched a video called Hello Vietnam and i think the vietnamese teachers really love the song, i noticed that they kept singing along to the song and both played the same song twice.

I think the song is quite nice too but i felt sad after listening to it which i don't really like cause i get blue very easily. Still, the song is beautiful.

My heart

My heart no longer beats as fast around you. It pounds for you no more. But... I still enjoy your company, i still love your eyes, i'm still lost in your smile. What does it mean?

Holding a Grudge is not good

Traffic

The traffic is scary somewhat, it’s like they will not care whether you’ll die and seriously, it’s like chaos happening throughout the day AND night. Hongking of cars and motorbikes here and there THROUGHOUT the day. I have to say that I’m impressed at how the Vietnamese people can cross the road so fearlessly.

I've reached VIETNAM

Firstly, i woke up so early in the morning, 5.19am. My dad just came in the room and switched on the lights, waking both my sis and i. I could have gone blind.

Anyways, my journey to the airport was accompanied by my mum, dad, sis and 2 brothers, the other brother was too tired to come along. It was fun, we tried on the scale that weighs the baggages to weigh ourselves. I finally realise where my craziness came from =_=

Here's a photo from my seat in the plane. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?
It's like a SEA OF CLOUDS

My Girl Korean Drama

My Girl is a korean drama that aired originally in Korea in 2005 and gained a lot of popularity to be ranked among the top 20 TV shows. Lee Da Hae (top picture, 2nd from left) won the 2006 SBS Drama Awards for one of the top 10 stars as well as 2005 SBS Drama Awards for an Excellence Award- Drama Special, both for her work in Green Rose and My Girl.

Park Si-yeon also recieved an award for her work in My Girl in 2006's SBS Newcomer Award.

Gong Chan (Lee Dong Wook) is searching for his long lost cousin to get his grandfather back on his feet again and in the process meets the lively and beautiful Yoo Rin (Lee Da Hae). However, their encounter was not love at first sight but rather, distaste. He finds out that she has similar features to his missing cousin as well as a knack for lying and asks Yoo Rin to lie about being his long missing cousin until he can find his real cousin.

She agrees after much persuasion and each soon develop feelings for each other which gets in the way of their plans. Gong Chan's friend, Jung Woo (Lee Jun ki) falls for Yoo Rin while Gong Chan's ex-girlfriend, Seo Hyun (Park Si Yeon), a pro tennis player, returns to Korea and tries to win him back. Will the two ever tell each other how they feel? Will Gong Chan ever find his real cousin?

Although the starting of the show was interesting and deadly humourous, the plot started to falter towards the end. It seemed like the writers were so happily creating problems for the couple that they forgot to leave enough screen time for them to reconcile those said problems properly. Everything towards the end was in a rush and left little for the supporting characters to develop. Especially Park Si Yeon's character who practically does the same thing throughout the whole story- trying to separate the two as well as Lee Jun Ki's character who never received a proper ending.

Fortunately, the drama was peppered with lots of jokes and humour that kept viewers hungry for more as well as the antics of the female lead that'll leave you sprawling on the floor, roaring with laughter. The chemistry was not quite there but there is still fantastic rapport between the two as well as the female lead and Lee Jun Ki's character. Lee Jun Ki's character is charming, suave, witty and romantic while the female antagonist (Park Si Yeon) who is fantastic at her role will make you really hate her.

Romance: 8/10
Chemistry: 6/10
Comedy: 9/10
Antagonists: 10/10
Story Plot: 7/10

Result: 8/10

My Comments: [SPOILER]
Well, if i were the cute female lead, i'd choose Lee Jun Ki. Come on! He's so damned romamtic (i'm not saying the other guy is too but come on! He did so much more for her compared to THE OTHER GUY) I also hate the grandfather who was so stuck to his ways that he was blinded by the fact that he was hurting his grandson from the inside out and it was sooooo ridiculous the way they had the grandfather reconcile his grandson and the girl. what did he say? You can't throw away love blah blah blah when just what? 30 minutes ago, you were trying to make her leave the guy and saying 'Why are you separating my grandson from me??!' (What the Friggin hell ) The story was great but the ending was not really fufilling

Taking off soon

I'm taking off soon on the coming Sunday early morning. I'm half scared half excited. I'll be visiting many places on the first week and frankly, i'm not too sure i'll enjoy the environment there. Lets face it, i'll definitely miss Singapore's safe streets compared to Vietnam.

Vietnam

Plus, Singapore's more hygienic and i'm a clean freak. i already bought my sanitiser for the trip, a whole big bottle. I cannot do laundry so this will definitely be a difficult time for me. I hope i can take this. I will definitely miss my family after a few days too along with the food. Already bought ready to eat sardines in case i miss the food here, even though it isn't really local food, it will actually help tide me over on a few alternate days to remind myself of Singapore.

I also had to buy gifts for a homestay i'll be taking. I went shopping for things for like 2 hours and came home with NOTHING. I have no freaking idea what to buy so i've decided to go Chinatown to buy the keychains or something soon. Probabably chocolates if i have more money. I actually wanted to buy chocolates just now but started worrying whether they have such chocolates there as well and started putting them back on their shelves. Sigh... It's so damned hard to buy presents.

There should be some kind of universal present that people of all culture accept and won'd doubt our sincerity. If there are, do tell cause i'm so frustrated at this. >_<

What i'm really looking forward though is to experience a whole new culture and language. It'll be very interesting to understand the different etiquette and mannerisms/slangs there. I'll definitely miss a lot of Singapore but since i'll be there for only 3 weeks, i'll have to make the most out of it rather than whine and pout (not doing the 2nd one at all). Have Fun Me!!!!

Leaving soon

I haveto leave for my Social Innovation Project at Vietnam in the coming Sunday. I'm quite dreading it though. I don't want to leave Singapore. I'll quite miss it, and a lot of the following
  • Pearl Milk Tea from GongCha
  • Nice comfortable Library
  • My movies and CDs and DVDs at home
  • My comfy warm bed
  • Clean Toilets and taps with sensors in Singapore
  • My family and friends
  • The atmosphere and humdity i'm already comfortable with
  • ETC. ETC.
Plus, the second i touch down on Vietnam is the day i'm assessed for the Social Innovation Project. I'll be damned if i fail. Plus i'm scared about that. WHAT IF (touchwood) i do fail? I'll be doomed!!!! But then again, doing it locally is about the same thing, plus locally, it's over 1 whole semester while for me? 2 weeks only. The other week is for sightseeing. YUP.

The 2 things i fear most about going to Vietnam is
  1. Whether i'll fail this module
  2. Whether i'll be able to survive the 3 weeks away from home
sigh... Scary... I don't want to fail this module.. i feel so damned
