Decided not to go for interview

There is an interview to be a scare actor of Universal Studios Halloween Horrors today at 1pm and i've decided that i'm not gonna go.

I really would go if it is not during school reopens, taking the fridays, saturdays and sundays where i need to use to study on my modules. So it would really affect my studies and i just can't allow that.

Plus, my lecturer did tell me to do things you enjoy in your life rather than the ones you don't. So i want to first list down the things to remind me not to regret not going for the interview.
  1. Interferes with school work
  2. just one statement in resume, nothing special. better to go for more events instead to increase that resume
  3. you're going to have another elective at school and would really affect your studying time if you go for the event
  4. you have CCA events maybe, to attend
But i really want a USS event on my resume... what a pity

Train Track

From 2011 onwards, recently, Singapore will not have train tracks coming through from Malaysia anymore. That's what my Mother told me.

So just the other day, as i was walking home from a shopping centre about 5 LRT stops from my house maybe 1+km away i walked by a train track as that's in my neighbourhood. You see, this train track has been in my life for the last 12 years or so of my life since i moved to this area. It crosses over a road so before this traack closed, vehicles have to pass by and sometimes wait for the train to finish crossing for them to continue driving to their destination. Everytime you cross over the train track, there is a small bump caused by the track itself so after a while it becomes common that everytime you pass through that road with the train track there, you expect the hump when your vehicle crosses over it.

Now however, the train is dismantled/taken out and on either side of the road where the track continues on, it is on the process of being dismantled. I am quite sad to see it go though. I know it's quite a minor issue but it was still a small part of my life. and will quite miss that train track's bump.

It was just the other day that i discussed this matter with my sister, that our descendants will not ever see the old, traditional trains passing through Singapore anymore.

"It's just trains, what's the big deal? Children, Children! There used to be trains in Singapore, ooooooh!!"she replied sarcastically.
BEFORE

AFTER

Going Along the track
this is the track upfront where it is not being dismantled yet

This shot is where, obviously, part of the track is taken out, no construction workers were around at that time, lunch maybe, and i took the photos. FYI, the area was not being cordoned off so i did not sneak in or something okay...

See those black rocks towards the right side of the picture? That's part of road that i think was also taken off, i guess because the tracks are attached to the roads so they're taken out along with the tracks. Of course cement were used to replace and smoothen back the road again.

More rocks...

There were cables or wires apparently, to connect the traffic light and stuff to alert drivers and to stop drivers about the oncoming train. i walked carefully around that. i think nothing would even happen to me were i to step on it but it IS better to be safe than sorry.

Malay Weddings

Malay Weddings now is very different from 10 years ago. 10 years ago, decorations entailed just simple fabric covering the tables and chairs, no extravagant designs and stuff. Now, there are bright or very pretty fabrics covering chairs and tables, as well as the ceilings. Even chandeliers and a canopy style ceiling is normal. There may even be props like birdcages etc. I like the modernised version of malay weddings :)
The second last wedding i went to was very special, there were at least 7 different types of drinks, there was lime green, rose, lemon etc. in 7 different colours. Then i had the bo bo cha cha! DELICIOUS!!! Wished i remembered to take the name card though :( Anyways, nowadays, i always remember to collect the namecards so when it came to my wedding, i know what i want! :)

Here are the pictures from the wedding i went to just now:

This is the centrepiece

Where the bride and groom sits

Nicely decorated table

beautifully decorated chairs

small chandeliers

Decorations

Props

I like malay weddings, the food, the decorations and the lively atmosphere. but one thing i do not like is the music played. Their music is so loud that it can cause damage to the ear drums.

I like this song, it's very fun! SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS. Even though the sound of it is simply quite atrocious...

Super duper catchy haha :)

You're my Destiny/Fated to love you 命中注定我愛你 Taiwan Drama

This drama had the highest rating in Taiwan when it came out. In 2008, it was awarded Best Television Series and Best Marketing Programme. Even my mother, who rarely watches chinese dramas, wanted to watch 'You're my Destiny'.

Chen Xin Yi is an unfashionable girl who everyone at her workplace calls a Post-it girl: you can use her whenever you are in need and throw away whenever you want. Soft and full of compassion, Xin Yi cares about people's feelings toward her, that's why she's struggling to be good to other people. She is very naive to the fact that she falls in love with anyone who treats her well. One day, she spends a large amount of money on a travel fee to go on a cruise to get her boyfriend back, she accidentally have a one night stand with Ji Cun Xi. Cun Xi the wealthy sole heir of a soap and cleaning products company. He had planned to propose to long-time girlfriend Anna but was unaware that she never boarded the ship. Xin Yi later finds out that her boyfriend is having an affair with a rich widow and breaks down when he leaves her. Cunxi pitying her, helps her get back at him when they were on the cruise.

After a month, Xin Yi finds out that she is carrying a baby. Due to Cun Xi's genetic factor, his family lacks male heirs to carry on the family bloodline, and this worries his grandmother, Grandma Zhen Zhu, a lot. However, Grandma Zhen Zhu coincidentally finds out that Xin Yi is having Cun Xi's baby thus forcing Cun Xi to marry Xin Yi and required them to start dating and go out together.

This drama is a romantic comedy and of course very fun to watch though sometimes a bit exaggerated. But then again, it'd not be a taiwan drama if it's not exaggerated. Laughed at almost every scene and there was one or two heartwrenching scene. Interesting story plot and great cast. Many of the songs in this drama are very catchy, even my 4 year old brother at the time kept singing one of the songs '"99次我愛他" (99 Times I Love Him)'. My favourite was '"我的快樂" (My Happiness)'

Princess Hours Korean Drama

Princess Hours was a very popular drama in 2006 and gain lots of great reviews and i agree that this drama is one of the best korean drama you will ever know once you've watched it. The theme song until now, 2011, is still stuck inside my head. If you check the drama out, you're bound to love the female lead for her quirkiness.

A perfect boy, Lee Shin, from the noble bloodline, with good looks and great sense of unpolished beauty is betrothed at the age of 17 to a girl from an ordinary family, Chae-kyeong. Lee Shin is an insensitive, smug guy who holds a torch for a ballerina he knows for quite a while, Min Hyo-rin. Before he was betrothed to Cha-Kyeong, he had proposed to Hyo-rin but was rejected because she wanted to concentrate on her future as a ballerina. Therefore, Lee Shin decides to go along with the arranged marriage.

Cha-Kyeong is a clumsy girl with average grades and average looks (don't think so) who oversteps the prejudice and barriers surrounding her. She is a very creative, lovable and outgoing girl but is quite naive. Though she seems immature and irritating, she is kindhearted and honest. Chae-kyeong marries the prince because of the promise made between her grandfather and Shin's. She initially finds Lee Shin irritating but  falls in love with him in the earlier part of the show. Lee Shin, not knowing that, feels the same way. Lee Yul is Lee Shin's cousin who was initially supposed to be the crown prince instead of Lee Shin. Lee Yul's mum is taking revenge for him. He falls in love with Cha-Kyeong but she only treats him as a friend and cousin-in-law. Meanwhile, Hyo-rin starts to regret rejecting Lee Shin's proposal as she can't stand him with another girl, thus tries to get him back.

The whole process unfolds with excitement...

This drama is really very fun to watch and you can watch it repeatedly without ever getting bored. The song's very catchy and the romance bwtween the couple sooo heartwarming. Lots of humour too for those who's looking for that. There are many heartwrenching scenes as well but do not worry, the lead guy or girl is not going to die of heart failure or anything. Moving on, the story plot is great, no loop holes, if there are, i did not notice :) Overall, this drama really deserved being one of the best and popular dramas in 2006.

Resume

My sister had an assignment a year ago and it was to make a resume. I just saw it yesterday and i've got to say, it is quite convincing to employ her. So, i decided to use hers as an example and fill in my own particulars and stuff to make my own effective resume.

Unfortunately, my resume turned out to be a lousy one instead. My sis's had some sort of project assignment that got accepted in the United States and her CCAs were quite linked to her course. These information are guaranteed to help her get accepted or at least increase her chances to any jobs. Mine though... NOT!!! I don't have much but i'll try get the best module grades or stuff to get in the directors list (which my sis has by the way). Damn... This is soooo frustrating..

I must get more qualifications and stuff.. Hope i'll get good grades! Only 3 or 4 more days to GPA results out. I HATE RESUMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Library Ohhhhh...

So i was at the library just now to return a huge stack of books i carried from my home to the library. After that, i went to buy a chocolate cake, coco exotic- delicious slice of cake which costs me $3.50. Anyways, i went back up to the library after that and to my delight, i found a Kerrelyn Sparks book called Vampire Mine. So i went to another shelf of books and somehow, i felt like i should check the shelf labeled REI-ROO, which holds an author's books, Rick Riordan. I don't know why but the feeling kept bugging me, like i should check that shelf right now. So OKAY, i went there and to my anticipation, i saw Rick Riordan's Book, Lost Hero. It is very cool!! Because right now, this book keeps getting reserved by many people for about every of this book in every public library. I am so lucky! Today did not turn out as bad as i thought it'd be huh?

Vaseline healthy white skin lightening lotion

yup, my sis bought this like 5 months ago and i gotta say, i don't think it works. She kinda used it for about two months and though i like the fragrant smell coming from the lotion, it doesn't whiten my tan at all. "Lighter skin in 2 weeks," what a liar this product is. Only giving false hopes.

Bored

I am very bored right now. I hate the thought of going back to school and there's about 3 or 4 more weeks till then so right now, i must live my life to the fullest cuz i will be going straight to hell when school reopens!

So here's wad i think i'll do
  • Go Jogging and play badminton
  • Go to the library and read some magazines
  • Buy a chocolate cake to eat
  • Watch 'Monk'
  • Walk around my neighbourhood?
  • Walk in the park?

Hmm... That's not very fulfilling. Well, i don't wanna go anywhere far cuz that's tiring and boring unless i'm gonna eat some buffet there. Well, i think my life is quite dull... Alright then, maybe i'll add another thing to the list, Read a book.

Johnny English Reborn

I watched the movie yesterday with my sister along with Smurfs. And between the two, i prefered Johnny English Reborn.

In this movie, English had actually failed a mission to protect some president. The President was assasinated by another bodyguard while English was 'some place else'. So somehow because of that, he went away to some mountain in Tibet to train and become better. When he completed, he wanted to return to MI7 but the head of MI7 do not really like Johnny English because he kinda humiliated them. Johnny English then goes on a mission to find out if there is some assasination plot on someone. He later finds out there is and finds the people linked to this to get the key they're holding. There are 3 people with the parts of the key. The first one is the one who told English about this plot and the key but was subsequently killed by a hitman- who's an old woman by the way who keeps trying to kill English throughout the whole movie which was soooo FUNNY HAHAHAHAHHA, ehem... - before he could divulge more information. It is ridiculously funny later on when he tries to find the other 2 keys and stop the assasination. English also has a sidekick who is also quite funny but of course, smarter than English. It is absolutely hilarious the way English chases after the 'criminals'.

But the first Johnny English is more funnier in my sister's opinion, i'm not sure about that though. I think each of the Johnny English movie is funny in their own way.

Facebook's Tetris Battle

Recently, i have been getting addicted to the Facebook's game, Tetris Battle. My rank now is 'Expert' which occasionally drops to 'Professional'. It has been about 3 weeks now that i keep going ranking up and down these two. Anyways, it's not that i visit Facebook everyday to play this... Only playing this game everyday since yesterday. Well, what can you expect from me? This is my holidays now you know, so i am allowed to be playing games. My exam results will be out soon on the 20sept... I hope i get a good GPA... If it's lower than 3, i will definitely be quite sad. ANYWAYS, lets not think about that. Push it away! Push it away!

Back to this game, you see, it's just blocks falling down from the top and you have to arrange them fast to make a line or two to eliminate the blocks and send them to the player you're competing with. This thus increases the number of lines the other player will have. And then if you manage to send a lot of lines to the other player such that the blocks reach the top, the other player will KO. Fortunately, each line sent to any player, there is sort of a bomb in a square block in line of blocks. So all you need to do is when a new block comes down from the top during the game, as usual, all you have to do is place the block down onto that bomb and you can eliminate that line and send it back to the player that sent you that line in the first place.

My friend, Jasmine, do not like playing this game, saying that it's boring... Yeah right, It is obviously FUN!!!

But sometimes when i lose, i kinda overreact just a bit.

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

On a stormy night, Cha Dae-woong accidentally frees a nine tailed fox who was sealed in a painting for 500 years. However, he did not realise what he had done until the nine tailed fox appears in front of him but, duh,  in human form. Cha Dae-woong was so scared that he ran away and fell down a mountain onto a riverbank. He was severely injured so Gumiho came to save him since he helped release her from the painting. She gives him her most precious orb to share with him the mystic fox strength. Gumiho asks a favour. She wants to become human. She will allow him to use her orb for 100 days - more than enough time for him to shoot his dream action movie despite his body's severe condition. As time passes, their relationship deepens and they start to fall for each other. However, for Gumiho to become a human seems to have serious consequences which they later have to face.

This is a great drama, there's humour, lots of romance, some heartwrenching scenes and even scenes where you feel so damn angry at the antagonists of the show. Story plot that though could be further improved is still great. Chemistry good and rapport is fantastic. Overall, i really like the drama, after watching so many dramas, this is one that makes me able to remember the song and i unconciously keep humming it!!!
warning: do not read the next paragraph if you have not watched the drama.

Ending was not bad but because in the end, she still is a fox, will she still be young and beautiful when he grows old? But she becomes a one tailed fox right? So that means she's still left with one more life? that does not makes sense though, cuz she already lived for 500 years and plus plus... So that is the only thing that bugs me about this drama.

So now's the critria and grading for the drama, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho:

- Humour      6/10
- Romance    9/10
- Chemistry   7.5/10
- Antagonist   9/10
- Surprises   9/10
- Story Plot            8/10

Overall grading      8.08/10

I really like this drama for its quirkiness and romance:)

No more Halloween Horrors at Night Safari

YUP... Halloween Horrors 2011 has been cancelled by the CEO of Wildlife Reserves. So there goes my CCA points and interesting participation of the event in my resume... It's quite sad really, because i really needed the CCA points. Plus, my sis said that though to get into a university, they don't look at your CCA points but it gives you an edge over other applicants.

Well, i cannot give up hope yet, there WILL be other opportunities for experience and when the opportunity comes along, i will grab it!

SO desperate for more CCA points so by the time i complete my quota for the points for a silver, i can fully concentrate on my studies than keep on worrying about CCA POINTS... Stupid materialistic world :(

Books

I love reading teenage books or romance novels and when a new book comes along, the first thing i look for in the romance novel actually, is whether there is any awards given etc. Like 'USA bestselling author' or stuff like that. After that, it is either scenario A or B. A is there is the awards. B is there's no awards.

In A, i will then look at the cover. Is it attractive looking. To me, it determines whether the book might be potentially interesting. It effort was not put in to the cover, the story itself is not very much worth it unless the story plot is very very interesting. A cartoon cover for a romance novel or a graphic image of a flower or sky or a scenery is no-no too for me as it looks kinda dull on first impression.

In B, where no awards or stuff is given, i'd look at the story plot at the back of the book. If boring, it's back on the shelf.

In teenage books, i always borrow the fantasy ones. Like ordinary girl suddenly finding out that she's a protege witch or a fairy. Or even finding out she has extraordinary powers to change the world of this parallel universe. stuff like that. Haha... I just love reading books like that.

Here's a few books that i recommend you should read and would definitely love:

Teenage Novels
  • Gamer Girl by Mari Mancusi
  • The Specialists- Model Spy by Shannon Greenland
  • Confessions of a triple shot betty by Jody Gehrman
  • Vampire Kisses: The Beginning by Ellen Schreiber
  • Percy Jackson the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
  • The Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade

Adult Romance Novels
  • Manhunting by Jennifer Crusie
  • The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella
  • Bet me by Jennifer Crusie
  • Tall, Dark and Hungry by Lynsay Sands
  • Have Glass Slippers, will travel by Lisa Cach
  • An offer from a gentleman by Julia Quinn
  • The Viscount who loved me by Julia Quinn
  • The Husband Trap by Tracy Anne Warren (This is one of my favourite books, it's OMG so heartwarming)
  • Double Dating with the dead by Karen Kelly
  • The Chase by Lynsay Sands
  • Forbidden Nights with a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
  • All i want for christmas is a vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
  • Undead and Unemployed by Mary Janice Davidson

Friends, The One With Gladys, Phoebe's Painting

I just love this episode! It is so hilarious the way they fight over the paintings. Especially when Joey is scared of the 'haunted' painting. HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. truly is one of the best <3

Johnny English Reborn

I can't wait to watch this movie! I've always wondered if there'd be a sequel when i watched the first movie :)

The first movie made me laugh so much and i hope the second one would produce the same results. Rowan Atkinson is simply one of the best!

Mischievous Kiss/ Playful Kiss

Mischievous Kiss/Playful Kiss!!!

This drama is based on the japanese Manga, Itazura na kiss by Tada Kaoru. Oh Ha-ni is a clumsy student, with very poor grades by the way, who falls for school's dashing top student, Baek Seung-jo. However, Seung-jo is indiffernt towards her and rejects her love confession. The 'love' letter that she gave him was returned to her with corrections. He graded her letter!
Then when Oh Ha-ni's houses collapses due to a minor earthquake- because of lousy construction as other houses were perfectly intact- she and her father moves in to her father's friend's house whose son coincidentally is Baek Seung-jo. Thus, Oh Ha-ni is given the opportunity to be staying close to the guy she loves. Will she be able to move the cold hearted Seung-jo's heart?

I love this drama! Baek Seung-jo rocks!!! Great story plot, lots of humour. Great cast by the way. Unfortunately, though the rapport between the main couple is great, there's a lacking in chemistry which is a totally let-down. The japanese anime version is better. this drama stops halfway into the manga itself, which is quite sad because i wanted to watch Oh Ha-ni complete her training to become a nurse.. Too bad though. Anyways, i love the way the lead guy is so coool.... His character if you think, is so easy to play, compared to Oh Ha-ni the character who has to do lots and lots of action and motions while the guy only has to be 'gloomy' and smile at the right moment to dazzle us. Anyways, he's still COOOOOL!!!!!

On a non-objective basis, i rank this drama 9.99/10

Objectively, here's the critria first:

-Humour 9/10
- Antagonists 6/10
- Chemistry 6.5/10
- Romance 8/10 (lots of romance, duh, she 'chases' him for 99% of the show)
- Story Plot 7.5/10 (too much of her 'chasing' him than vice versa, making her look pathetic and desperate which really irritates me but on the positive side, you may call her persistent)

Thus ranking is... 7.4/10 Hmmm.... why is that so...

Vampire Kisses: The Beginning

The Author of this book is Ellen Schreiber.

About: The mansion on top of Benson Hill has stood empty for years. But one day, it seems to be occupied, and its mysterious handsome inhabitant, Alexander Sterling, becomes the source of much talk around town. Raven, a vamoire obsessed Goth-girl who has always considered herself an outsider in "Dullsville", is determined to uncover the truth surrounding the secretive Alexander. As she gets to know him, and their spark intensifies, Raven finds herself in some unanticipated situations. Can Alexander make her lifelong dream come true? But always love, has its complications- especially when it can only be awakened at nightfall.

Well, in the real world you'd think she's gone coo-coo.. Anyways, back to the book.

I looove this book!!! It's like any normal guy like gal, gal like guy story but you'll fall in love with it anyways. :)

9 September 2011

Gonna review soon...

What i am watching now (which i watched a few months ago already but forgot) is Playful Kiss. Korean adaptation of Japanese's "itazura na kiss".

The next drama would be "My girlfriend is a gumiho." Can't wait to watch that because i've read that it has good ratings. :)

Too bad, i am going to have to go back to poly for halloween horrors. Well, it's gonna be on my resume and stuff so i'm just gonna have to deal with it.

My Princess Korean Drama

Yep, because the examination has just ended, i am on a korean drama craze because i have been deprived of dramas and movies during the school duration preparing for exam. Thus, the next few posts will be of movies and dramas. More likely recommending them and what not to watch. Mostly recommending though.

'My Princess' is a really great drama. The male and female lead have such great chemistry. The story plot though quite predictable was still engaging. Full of humour from start to finish. So here's what the drama is about:

Lee Seol (Kim Tae-Hee) is a woman who enters college later than other girls. Like her peers, they dream of becomming a princess one day somehow. Despite, no one expects that Lee Seol has actually become one. A real life princess of Korea. From then on, she met Park Hae- young (Song Seung- Heon) a handsome diplomat who has been selected to become her etiquettes instructor. In the beginning Park Hae-young is very displeased with Lee Seol being the princess as his grandfather has decided to give up all his assets which he was supposed to inherit to Lee Seol of becoming the princess. This is because, all his life, he had been pestered by reporters and stuff about inheriting the grandfather's assets thus causing him not much happiness while growing up. And now, his grandfather wants to give his assets for other purpose, he inevitably becomes extremely angry. However, as they spent longer time together, Hae-young starts to fall in love with Lee Seol.

The drama had good foundation from the beginning. Lots of humour. Some romance here and there though sadly, not much. The two main leads did not have much time together to date and stuff towards the end. There are few scenes that make you cry just a bit. Don't worry, there won't be 'heartwrenching' scenes if that's what you're wondering about. The ending though was unsatisfying. Though they're together in the end, the ending was kinda aburpt, suddenly leaving a few questions unanswered. Fortunately, because this drama made quite a big impression on me from start to finish, i'll forgive that minor drawback :) (it is still an unfulfilling ending to me). Overall, this laugh out loud romantic comedy is bound to capture your heart and wish for more.

Lastly, if i have to give a rating for this drama, there's a few critria to take in first:

- Comedy 9/10
- Romance 7/10
- Chemistry 8/10
- Story Plot 7/10
- Antagonist8.5/10

Overall 7.9/10
