Stereotypical SOB

Imagine the times when you've realised you misjudged someone and the guilt or feeling of unease you had when you later find that the person was actually really nice. We make mistakes, people make mistakes and as we grow, we learned from them because it was a small error on our part. We see what we want to see and disregard those who do not fit in to our perfect made up world.

However, the one thing one mustn't do is call someone a string of profanities when you don't know who they are. You don't know what they have been through, you've never walked the steps they took to get to where they are now and you don't even know them. That is the one kind of person i abhor.

Yesterday, after a meeting, a group of guys from the club and i left and walked past a bunch of cheerleaders having their training so i said, "thats so nice, a bunch of hot guys and girls training together." Well, suddenly, the President of the club (who were one of the guys i was walking with) said, "they're sl**s," referring to all the girls wearing such short shorts and raising and tying their shirts to an inch or two above the belly button so it's able to cool their bodies a little from all the exercise. That's because i do the same thing too when the weather was too warm to handle.

In my mind, a bunch of colourful vocabulary came to mind but i dare not speak. I'm not that close to him and i'm pretty shy to voice out my opinions to people i don't know so i just kept my mouth shut.

The whole ride home, i was thinking, what the hell is wrong with him? Because my mind went back to a BBQ we all once had and he (the same guy) said that girls in Singapore are so typical, the short shorts and t shirt, and you call that fashion. He seemed to despise those who wear shorts. Well then thats your fucking problem! Why insult us girls? Are you secretly sexist or something???

Firstly, you don't know those hot cheerleaders, how dare you call them s***s! What, just because you know the stereotype that cheerleaders are mean and wear shorts, you can judge them and call them names in any way that pleases you? Please, grow up. Fashion is a form of self expression and confidence, and if wearing that pleases them then let them be. Why butt in and tell other girls or guys even and forcing this sick opinion that girls who wear shorts are not worthy of you. Let me correct you:

ITS NOT THAT THEY ARE NOT WORTHY OF YOU, ITS THAT
YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF THEM.

My class has 2 female cheerleaders and they're really nice and sweet people and the captain, who is also from my class, is a really nice guy. So let go of this stereotype, its sickening to the ears. Or any stereotypes even, it's not healthy, all you're going to do is hurt people's feelings.

Little Too Much

Sometimes it hits like a car crash
And its too late to reverse
Sometimes you make me a better person
Sometimes you bring out the worst

Sometimes we get on like fire
Sometimes we stopping like rain
Just when i think its over, over
You wave a white flag again
.
.
.
Every body hurts just a little too much
Everybody hurts but its never enough
Its wonderful to fall
Let's love and risk it all
I'd rather love just a little too much

Sometimes we're trapped in a circle
'till we're digging holes in the ground
We try but nothing is working
but still i want you around

Cause if i'm lost in the desert
I know somehow you'll find me
And if i dive in the ocean, you'll be
The first to rescue me

Cyclist Club AGM

Well, it took me a while to start blogging this because i didn't actually have good photos but recently, someone from the club took photos and uploaded them to Facebook. Photo credits goes to Ryan Tan and Chua Yong Chun :)

The AGM announced the changes over the past year, events the club planned as well as undertaken and also the passing on of roles to the next group of main committee members. Yours truly is one of them, i was appointed the assistant event coordinator. To be honest, i didn't think i was up for the job because my internship is coming up next and this would be a big burden but like i said before in this post, i am going to prove to myself (not to anyone else, not my club, not my peers, but to myself) that i am capable of taking up the responsibility. I will try so ganbatte!

So here are the photos for that day! I think they are wonderful photographers!

Thats all folks!

Murder on the Orient Express

Recently, i've been getting around to reading literary classics like Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express. Truth be told, i've never read a mystery novel in my life before Agatha Christie. One time, i tried to read this one mystery novel i believe by Heather Graham, it wasn't at all suspenseful and i think, most likely, after a chapter or two, i stopped reading and didn't even bother to check who was the culprit in the end.

So months ago, my sister bought an Agatha Christie book called And then there were None from a book sale. The book cover had a picture of this weird looking fish and the pages had already turned yellow with time. It wasn't appealing to me and so, there wasn't enough motivation for me to continue reading after a page or two. (for me, sadly, a nice looking cover is the deal breaker) Even though my sister told me that it was a fantastic book... and so, just to get her to stop talking about the book, i asked her to tell me who the murderer was. I have regretted that till this day, It was a foolish move. Because right now, i so want to read it with the right amount of suspense one should have when they read a good book. But now, i know the effing ending. No use of word in this world could define the feeling i have right now, i ruined the ending of one of the most popular mystery books of all time. Damn you ugly looking fish covered book.

IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT I LITERALLY JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.

Anyways, the reason why i feel this way is because of Murder on the Orient Express. The first mystery novel i've ever read. This is what sparked me to start reading the rest of Agatha Christie's books, i mean ALL of it, starting first with Hercule Poirot's books. Before i actually started reading it though, i went to find out who this Agatha Christie was. I know i know, HOW THE HELL CAN YOU NOT KNOW WHO AGATHA CHRISTIE IS??? Well, deal with it, i'm just 19, i've still got more to learn.

And so i watched Brainpop, this interactive and educational website that makes animated videos about everything a kid or even an adult can learn about like Technology to World History to Literature. One video particularly, talked about Agatha Christie and after watching it, somehow or another, i decided that i wanted to give one of her books a try, which was, as you know it, Murder on the Orient Express.

One interesting fact i learned about Agatha Christie was that in December 3rd 1926, Christie's husband told her that he was having an affair with another woman and demanded a divorce. After her husband went off to be with his mistress, Agatha disappeared. But not before sending a letter to the police that she was afraid for her life. Her car was later found in a chalk pit in Newlands Corner, England. And Christie was missing. In the car were just a suitcase and some clothes. The police searched the area but with no results... 2 weeks later, Christie was found in hotel in the town of Harrogate, Yorkshire. She claimed to be suffering from Amnesia...

Spooky isn't it? But i think it was just a stunt she played to get more people to read her books. It worked for me though :)

Okay, moving on! For those who don't know what Murder on the Orient Express is, let me explain it to you and those of you who know, please, bear with me for a while :)

In this book, the plot is as follows...
Just after midnight, the famous Orient Express is stopped in its tracks by a snowdrift. By morning, the millionaire Samuel Rachett lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. One of his fellow passengers must be the murderer.

Isolated by the storm and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must find the killer amongst a dozen of the dead man's enemies, before the murderer decides to strike again...

The plot alone, should give you the chills, if not, the ending surely will. I will not divulge any more information, you should read it for yourself if you have not started on it. It's going to be the best greatest MOST CORRECT decision you will EVER make.

And so, i'll only say that the big reveal made my jaws drop. It is true. Unconsciously even. Heck it might have been a few minutes until i actually realised my mouth my gaping. This, i have to say, is one of the best human creation ever made. A piece of literary art.

A Step Forward

Searching for a New Dream

For those of you who don't know, i'm studying Events Management and recently, i've realised that the course of study is not for me. I've seen this industry and the things i would have to endure if i were to continue and to cut the long story short, i think i'm sure one hundred and one percent that this path ain't for me. I love events, and the thrill of the on the day action but the things you have to do that leads up to it and the stress that goes along with it? It's just not my kind of thing. I don't want to plan conferences, i don't want to plan seminars or even a sports event. Because like i said, it's just not my kind of thing. I only know that I want to plan weddings, i want to plan the day that the beautiful couple who on that faithful day, would soon vow to love each other for the rest of their lives, would remember. I want to create an event that warms people's hearts. But i also realised that i want to capture that moment.

Yes, i've been thinking about it. Sometimes, i wish that i was a professional photographer or at least a skilled one who has the capability to capture memories people want to keep for when they're old and gray or take abstract shots that leave people thinking or even pictures that make people's jaws drop and immediately say 'wow~' and smile.

I also want to travel the world. I want a job that allows me to do that, like an air stewardess or a travel agent.

The last one feels more like a hobby though. It's just that decision. Do i want to continue to be an events planner but take the Wedding Planner route or do i want to be a Photographer and turn memories into a photo album or do i want to do something else... maybe a passion that i follow unconsciously, that i have yet to realise. I still have time to think and make my move but if there's one thing i know (an advice i've gotten).. It's that time is not fully on my side.

Quatre

So i have just recently uncovered a micro SD card that i safe kept to preserve the precious memories and forgot about it until a few weeks ago. I saw various photos and videos that were long forgotten, it gave me a particularly warm feeling :) Then, i saw photos from when my sister visited the city area when she took the duck tour which i did as well but did not have a camera with me at that time. So these photos which i said only uncovered recently, are almost 4 years old. I wonder if anything has changed since then :)
