Slacking until 10 April

What's happening on the 10th you say? Well, that's the day I shall start work!! It's at Singapore Polytechnic, my wonderful poly where I spent 3 years of my life in. It'll just be mostly admin work etc. which I'm already used to by now since my internship. At least this time, I'll have a friend to hang out with, BRENDA! Though we might not work together, probably different departments, I guess we would still have at least lunch together ^^

Anyways, to kill my time until next Thursday, I've actually started on my road to better fashion sense and improving my Mandarin Chinese... Not so much the latter.

By the by, I've been looking at fashion tips and what looks good on me, tall body, tanned skin etc. I've even saved pictures into a folder on my desktop called 'Fashion'. It's a start I guess, to improve my fashion sense as well as wardrobe. I'm actually thinking of donating my old clothes and buy a whole different wardrobe. Don't worry, I've already had a budget in mind, I'm not that girl who spends without thinking anymore. Although sometimes I give in to my impulses.

Here are some photos I saved:

I can definitely pull these off. Of course, I'll need to wear and see it for myself first before buying them but I'm a hundred percent sure they'll fit me :)

That's all for now!

Have a lovely day ahead :D

Sleepover Aftermath

There wasn't much of an aftermath haha, I just thought it'd be a nice title~

Anyways, the sleepover went well! My favourite part of the sleepover was actually watching Insidious Chapter 2. I was hooked right from the beginning.

It wasn't so much the movie than the sound effects that really spooked me.

We also watched my favourite 'Psych,' but it ended up running for quite a while. I thought the episodes usually last around 40 minutes so when I came home and checked the running time, episode 1 was 66 minutes long and episode 2 was 44 minutes. It then began to dawn on me that season premiers are usually much longer than the subsequent episodes!

Oh well, at least they got a taste of Psych!

Sleepover

falling is like this

I used to have sleepovers as a kid with my cousins but as we grew older, we grew further apart and the sleepovers kinda stopped. What I've missed about the sleepovers though, are the watching of movies dead in the night and early in the morning. Eating the home cooked meals by my wonderful aunt and playing with their pets. What I DON'T miss though was the toilet at my cousin's home. It was always filled with the smell of cats' piss. Notice CATS' with s then apostrophe. They had like 6 cats or so at that time. Don't get me wrong, I love cats. I love patting them and playing with them but I don't want the responsibility of owning one. Much like babies. You love playing with them and pinching their soft cheeks but when they start crying, you just want to pass them back to their parents to handle it all.

As a result of that, I've always tried as much as possible to wait until I return home to shower since I lived only a few blocks away haha

And now, as of yesterday, I will be having a sleepover!!! And it will be at Chloe's house with Joeslyn as well! And there will be a MOVIE MARATHON! WHAT UP YO!!

I CANNOT WAIT TO SHOW THEM MY FAVE MOVIE!!!!

Can't put my finger

But I feel what's to happen...

Telunas I'm Coming for Yooooooooooooou

I'll finally be introducing to my family, Telunas, the place I've been telling them so much about the first time I went there. Read the following post if you missed it.

Telunas is absolutely beautiful and relaxing, definitely somewhere you would want to go for a cheap relaxation trip. 9 people for only SGD2600.00 and this includes accommodation, food and travel! Plus a river tour and pizza making that I arranged for. Hopefully, my family will enjoy their time here.

My only worry or so to say, 'irritation' would be my dad. He loves comparing places and making mountains out of molehills. It's super frustrating. I would love for him to just soak in the moment and enjoy the surroundings. Would have to tell him THAT before we leave LOL

Can't wait for the clear water beach!! 5 weeks more, 5 weeks more :)

Sometimes I wonder if I'll love someone so much that my heart wrenches every time I think of him. I've been watching 'My Love who came from the Stars' and have been so mesmerised by Kim Soo Hyun that I stopped watching it for the time being because my admiration and adoration for him has became too much to handle.

For god's sake, I was even dreaming about him 2 nights in a row! The first dream, I was trying to get him to fall in love with me in any way possible and in the second dream, we were in a relationship <3

I realised that this foolishness needed to stop because in the real world, we would never meet. It was so depressing for me that he'll never be mine that I really had to stop watching the show. This is the first time a freaking TV character made me feel this way. No wonder he has taken Asia by storm!

I think once I've controlled myself, I would be able to continue the drama.

So for now, Kim Soo Hyun, get out of my mind! I love you too much!

3 Tips When Booking Through a Travel Agency

rail land air sea

In the past 3 days where I was working under a travel agency as a flier/brochure girl, I managed to learn a thing or two about travel agencies and their deals. Whether it was through a customer or other sales people themselves, the insights they gave were definitely something to think about:

  1. Better Free and Easy or Land Tour than take a full package guided tour. Usually, the agencies jack up the air prices for tours. If it was 500 dollars, they'd do a mark up or in simpler terms, increase the price to 560 or 600 so that they can earn the profit. So at the end of the day, it is better to buy your own air ticket.
  2. Never fully trust a 1 for 1 package deal. Usually, it would be like this: '1 for 1 deal! Fr. $889'

See that Fr.? In case you don't know, that's FROM. Which means that it does not include surcharges and taxes that can be up to an additional two hundred or so. Then sometimes there would be additional charges for the other person too since you need to charge individuals for their airport taxes. By the end of the day, you're actually paying enough for two people =_= Maybe more since that dang travel agency needs to earn some profit no?
  3. Cheap Tours. Let me explain what i mean by this. I was looking at another travel agency for their Korean Land Tour (buy own air ticket and sometimes accommodation as well) and they had this one tour at the Namsan Tower at SGD 60. Slowly skimming the attractions they wanted to showcase to the tourists, I realised that everything was free except lunch which would be paid for. Every other thing was absolutely FREE. So basically, I would be paying 60 freaking dollars for lunch which would have costed less than 10 considering the exchange rate. I might as well just throw my money into the bin! So one thing to take note of, make sure you pay for a tour that doesn't wholly include just tours that are FOC. Because if it is, you might as well go there yourself, plus you would still be holding on to your money.

Lost

I think that everyone gets lost some time in their lives, whether they're in their forties or in their twenties. There always come a time when you stop and ask yourself what you really want to do with your life. A few of us get that epiphanies we're all waiting for though.

I have always thought and desired that I would one day have a job I love, that I would not stress day and night for. That even if i get burned out from all the endless energy that requires of me for the job, I would still say, "Hey, I love my job and that's all that counts!"

I've met many people in my 20 years of living on earth: a bus accident/crash survivor, an ex deep sea diver, a guy who used to race motorcycles with others dead in the night even when it was dangerous and could cause lives (luckily no one got hurt) et cetera... and I don't believe that they regretted any of the steps they took in their 'journey,' the good and the bad.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes, your dreams may not lead you down the paths you would have thought and the paths you're going to take may actually lead you to where you'll ultimately love to be. Life is full of screw ups, full of possibilities as well as ups and downs but it will always bring you to where you're supposed to be. Because if it's meant to be, it will be.

And one day, you won't regret that step you took.

Growing Up

In the internship that has passed 2 weeks ago, I've learnt a couple of things that has opened my eyes to so much more.

Number 1, money. I realised that it will never be enough no matter how much you earn, no matter how much you spend. One time or another, something bad will crop up and you would need to spend money you didn't want to in the first place. In other words, saving for a rainy day. 2 weeks ago, a tooth at the back of my mouth began to hurt really bad till the point where i wanted to cry so badly. I rushed to the dentist and she chided me about not having a regular dental checkup. My dad ended up spending over $250 to solve the problem and I can't even eat solid food right now. Pathetic right?

Moving on, I've learnt my lessons:
- Prevention is always always better than cure
- Have a dental checkup every 6 months
- Save for rainy days

Money is important and I'm not going to waste it on material things too often from now on.

Number 2, Courage. This isn't about being able to catch that creepy lizard or touch that cat, it's about being able to face the day with a positive mind. There are so many things in life that will bring you down, people who can't stop scolding or chiding you for whether it is your fault or not etc. etc. etc. You just need to make sure you're not going to lose that innocence or sense of good in life. Do not let anything take you down and remember that compared to all the disasters and tragedies in life, your problem is much easier to solve. You will ultimately become less stressed.

Number 3. People will hate you. You may be the reddest most juiciest apple in the world and there will still be people who hates apples. The only reason people do this to others is because they're afraid of something we have. And also that they don't know us. It's easy to hurt people when you don't know them. Which is why I've made a point to remember that each person has their own story to tell and the reason they turned out the way they were. Just like how serial killers were never born with the natural intent to kill, most of the time, it's the tough childhood to blame.

Number 4. Look Pretty. That's the most important thing. Countless studies and most basest observation has shown that attractive people tend to get more out of life. Like how parents tend to give in to their more attractive children, how the handsome people get paid more than average looking people, how we tend to see attractive people as friendly and approachable. Being pretty gives you an edge, a second look, sometimes a second chance.

Number 5. Always be alert to your surroundings. Because you tend to lose out more when you don't. For example, my colleague once checked in at a hotel where she was supposed to stay at for the next 3 days. On her second night back to the hotel after a long day of sightseeing, the receptionist said to her, "hi mdm! Here is your key, I hope your day was a pleasant one!" Turned out that the receptionist made an effort to remember her. This may not probably be the best example to explain this point but I am sure you got the gist. Which is to be observant to everything.

So there you go, the few things I've learnt from my internship~~
